United Way of Hancock County’s has announced its annual theme is “United We Win” and will begin a recognition program to celebrate local citizens. Nominees must be affiliated with a United Way funded program as a client, volunteer, student, employee, donor, nonprofit or business leader. Each selected winner will receive a plaque and will be featured in a video on social media.
The first award was presented to Avah Enright, a student at Jacobs Primary School. She was nominated by her teacher Anthony DeRose who said, “Avah is one of the most caring students that I have ever had in a classroom! She is a hard working student, who rises above challenging situations. She always has a smile even when she is unsure of herself. She embodies the model Jacobs' student and is loved by all students in the classroom.” Jacobs is a “Leader in Me” school. Leader in Me is partially funded by United Way. A short video of her presentation can be found at the online nomination page http://liveunitedhancockcounty.org/unitedwewinaward.
Nominations are being accepted on the organization’s website from now until August 1. Up to 10 individuals will be selected and will be surprised by an award presentation from August 1 through November 15.
