United Way kicks off Campaign with Masked Singers Live United Contest

FINDLAY, OH (Sept 14, 2020) United Way of Hancock County will kick off the 2020 annual campaign virtual event "Masked Singers LIVE UNITED" during a Facebook Live event at noon Wednesday.

Community members are invited to follow nine local masked contestants who have volunteered to represent divisions of the United Way's annual workplace campaign.

Masked contestants will upload short sound bites of themselves singing to the United Way website each Wednesday through Nov. 11. Community members will be able to view the videos and vote for their favorite singer through midnight the following Sunday. Votes are then tallied and, the following Wednesday, the contestant receiving the least votes will be revealed at a noon Facebook Live event.

Contestants gain points for donations received, as well as for shares from the Facebook page posts. A $1 donation equals one vote. And for every 25 shares a singer receives, an additional 10 points will be given. Those voting will also be entered into a drawing for a weekly sponsored prize drawn by the revealed masked singer at the sponsor's location. The contest continues until the winner is revealed on Nov. 11 at State Bank, sponsor of the grand prize.

The weekly Facebook events will also feature executive directors and program coordinators from the partner agencies supported through the annual campaign.

Midway through the event, a special spirit rally will include local city and county high school bands performing their fight songs and a masked singer performing the lyrics for an assigned school. The public will vote for the best performance and the winning singer and school represented will be awarded the Masked Singers LIVE UNITED Spirit title.

Masked singers and the divisions they represent include: Astro Naut, commercial division; Blockhead!, corporate; Goldie B, education; Walt, the Great American Eagle, fire, insurance and real estate; The Percolator, mercantile; Dr. Matlock Mercury, professional; Safety Sheila, public; Queen of Hearts, health; and Spruce Willis, rural.

Donations go toward the annual campaign which raises money for the partner agencies and local programs. Visit www.liveunitedhancockcounty.org and view the top navigation for the latest updates on Masked Singers Live United.
