United Way of Hancock County is holding its 2nd annual online auction fundraiser from now through 7 p.m. on December 2. There are more than 60 items available to bid on. Many items are gift certificates donated from local small businesses like West End Tavern, Keepsake Portraits, Fort Findlay Coffee and Doughnut Shoppe, Findlay Brewing Company, University of Findlay, Beyond MedSpa and RooBarb Studios.
Some other items are: tickets to the Professional Bull Riding Chicago Invitational, family pass to the Children’s Museum of Findlay, a family pass to the Toledo Zoo, Danby wine or beverage refrigerators, a round of golf for four at the Findlay Country Club and tickets to the Nutcracker at The Stranahan Theatre.
“The winning bidder will receive a verified receipt and will receive instructions on how to pick up their item. For the most part we are having winners stop by the business to pick up the prize. This ensures that the winners enter local businesses. This is great exposure for our small businesses and the proceeds will help to measurably improve people’s lives in Hancock County,” said Andrea Kramer, chair of the mercantile division for United Way’s 2017 fundraising cabinet. Last year the auction generated more than $5,000.
Any time a bidder is outbid, the charity auction system will send an outbid notification email. If the bidder opted to receive text notifications during the registration process, the bidder can also receive an outbid text notification on the bidders smartphone with a link directly back to the item. This will allow bidders to rebid from anywhere. The bidding site is safe and secure. Winners can pay by credit card or can be invoiced when the auction is over.
Bidders will be required to open an account to bid. To view the items, go to https://www.charityauctionstoday.com/auctions/uwhc2017-3173. The online auction is open to the public. Local businesses can still make a contribution by contacting Tamera Rooney, communications director, at 419-423-1432 or tamera.rooney@uwhancock.org.
