(FINDLAY, Ohio) Sept. 27, 2022 — The United Way of Hancock County and Hancock County Farm Bureau are once again partnering for a program called Ride with a Farmer.
The collaboration is intended to allow community members to learn more about agriculture and its impact in Hancock County.
Local farmers will take participants for a 30-minute to hourlong ride with them as they harvest their fields this fall. Riders will learn firsthand about general farming practices, seasonal preparations, harvesting, and what happens to the crop after harvest.
A $25 riding fee will be matched by the Hancock County Farm Bureau and donated to the United Way of Hancock County’s Halt Hunger Initiative. The initiative’s purpose is to research, identify, implement and promote long-term solutions to hunger.
Participants must be 18 or older and can sign up at https://www.liveunitedhancockcounty.org/form/ride-with-a-farmer-sign-up . Spaces are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Once signed up, the Hancock County Farm Bureau will connect participants with a local farmer to schedule the best date and time for the ride.
