The City of Findlay administration and the Hancock County Sheriff’s office will be reporting weather alerts and road closings through United Way’s 2-1-1 service. Currently, 2-1-1 also provides information about school closings and delays. By dialing 2-1-1, individuals can access these updated reports 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember three-digit phone number that connects callers to services throughout the community, regionally and nationally.
The Hancock County 2-1-1 Collaborative began in June of 2008, when citizens were recovering from local flooding. It was recognized that a referral system to access community resources when in need was a priority.
”Local and regional agency information is continually updated providing you with more than just a phone number including services available, hours of operation and how to access the service needed,” said Bev Phillips, community services director at United Way of Hancock County.
For individuals who have a phone number in the 419 or 567 area code, dial 2-1-1 to be connected to the service. For those who have a phone number from outside the 419 or 567 area code, dial 1-800-650-HELP (4357) to reach the Hancock County 2-1-1 resource and referral service. Information includes: help with utilities, housing, legal assistance, health information and more.
